H.O.P.E. Groups...
Here at Greenview Christian Church we are a church of small
groups not simply a church that has small groups. The difference
is that our small groups are our primary mode of providing
care to our people and inviting un-churched people into our
fellowship. This ministry attempts to embrace the philosophy
of the first Christian church found in Jerusalem and outlined
in the above passage.
Our small groups are called H.O.P.E. Groups. This acronym
stands for:
H (Homes)—The
home is the place where the early Christians shared their
lives, experienced growth, created and nurtured relationships,
and introduced new people to God’s love, grace, and
forgiveness! It was in their homes where lives were transformed
forever as God worked personally in their lives.
O (Open)—Our homes must
be open to a world of people who are starving for truth that
can make a difference in their lives. They are looking for
something real and eternal. God offers a life-giving relationship
that produces remarkable spiritual growth.
P (Pastoring)—Small groups
allow people to make friends and develop intimate relationships.
People involve themselves in pastoring one another because
they know one another’s needs.
E (Evangelism)—Everyone
needs Christ and one of the primary functions of the small
group is to invite others into their small group. The early
Christians had people added to their numbers daily and we
can experience that same kind of growth as we cultivate relationships
with those who we come into contact with daily.
